Gout, Gouty Arthritis, High Uric Acid

Dr. Manso used to suffer from Gout himself, but has been free from the illness for 20 years.

We treat Gout with diet, controlling, the PH (acidity) of the body, and sometimes using prescription meds such as Colchicine, Zyloprim (Allopurinol) or Probenecid (Benemid).

Uric acid is stored in the joints and tissues of the body, so it is important to maintain the blood uric acid levels below 5 for at least a year to remove urate deposits. We have seen joint destruction and uric acid accumulations on people with uric acid levels as low as 5.7.

Uric acid crystals accumulation in joints and tissues increase with low temperature, so thyroid function must be regulated. Long, very hot baths and whirlpools are good for removal of uric acid. Stay as warm as possible at all times to prevent Gout attacks.

Because uric acid is eliminated in the urine, hyperurcemia (high uric acid) is a common cause of kidney stones. To prevent this, Gout patients should drink extra water and keep their urine pH between 7.0 and 8.0

Dr. Manso Recommends

In search of the perfect human diet, Victoria Boutenko compares the standard American diet with the diet of wild chimpanzees. Chimpanzees share an estimated 99.4% of genes with humans, but their diet is dramatically different from ours. The most glaring difference is that chimpanzees consume significantly more green leaves than humans. Based on these observations, Victoria has developed a series of green smoothie recipes that enable anyone to consume the necessary amount of greens in a palatable way.
